SUNBURY – Shikellamy school district superintendent Patrick Kelley was noticeably absent from Thursday’s work session. District solicitor Michael Apfelbaum read a brief statement at the beginning of the meeting saying, “There is a personnel matter that is under review and a public release will be issued in the future. We will not be accepting any further public comment on this personnel issue at this meeting.”
When asked about Kelley’s absence, Apfelbaum had no comment. Members of the public speculated after the meeting that Kelley’s resignation or termination was imminent.
Superintendent Kelley was suspended without pay for 20 days last year following a DUI charge in New York. WKOK will have all the details as they become available. (Jennifer Wakeman)
