Jury selection begins for Victor Hare trial

SUNBURY — Jury selection gets underway today for the trial of a man charged in the death of a 9-year-old Sunbury boy.  The Daily Item reports almost 400 potential jurors have been summoned to report today in Northumberland County for the trial of 60-year-old Victor Hare.

Normally, only 200 jurors are summoned, but because of the nature of the case, a bigger pool was needed according to court administrator’s office.  Hare is accused of giving 9-year-old Korbin Rager Oxycodone when the boy stayed at his home in Point Township.  Rager was found dead inside Hare’s home.

Hare is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter along with drug delivery charges, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children.  His trial is scheduled to begin April 17 and should last five days.  (Ali Stevens)
