LEWISBURG — Choosing a career can be difficult, but some high school girls got a little help Wednesday from Junior Achievement. At the Young Women’s Futures Symposium attendees explored opportunities available to them after graduation. They learned important skills such as resume writing, budgeting and interviewing.
Sheila Packer from Evangelical Community Hospital led students through a leadership style assessment to learn more about themselves and careers that fit their personality, “If your line is drawn through that top left quadrant, you are an analyzer. If you are in the top right quadrant, you could be considered a ruler…bottom left, relator…bottom right, you’re an entertainer. Not everyone is going to fall directly into one category.”
The symposium included mentoring sessions for the10th and 11th grade attendees. WKOK’s Ali Stevens and Sara Bartlett served as mentors for the event that was held at Bucknell University.
Junior Achievement hosts five symposia during the year throughout central Pennsylvania. (Jennifer Wakeman)
