BLOOMSBURG — After a court ruling Monday, racing at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds will be coming to an end.
Media reports say a Columbia County judge ordered the Bloomsburg Fair Raceway to be shut down. This comes after a hearing was held late last week, where officials raised concerns with noise from the track.
Back in 2005, the town of Bloomsburg placed an exemption on the town’s noise ordinance, making all aspects of the fair exempt. But last November, the town passed an amendment to the exemption.
The Fair Association says they will abide by the ruling, but they will lose profit. The Fair Association also filed a different lawsuit asking for the court to rule in their favor of restoring long-withstanding exemptions for fair racing. As of now, that case has still yet to be ruled on.
