Priestley House $40,000 Grant New Science, History and Nature Center

Joseph Priestley House to Add Science, History and Nature Center with Funding

NORTHUMBERLAND – The Joseph Priestley House Museum in Northumberland is getting some state grant funding for upcoming new additions.

PA lawmakers say $40,000 will be used to help with the construction of the new Joseph Priestley Science, History and Nature Center.  The funding could also be used to help with a new exhibit at the museum that is under development.

PA Senator John Gordner (R-27th, Berwick) says the funds were ‘much needed’ and will further enhance the museum’s ability to educate and preserve vital history. PA Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver (R108th, Sunbury) says it will help the museum reach younger people.

Harry Lewis, member of the Friends of Joseph Priestley House Board of Directors says the project will help celebrate the 250th anniversary in 2024 of Joseph Priestley’s discovery of oxygen.
