Johnstown Woman Dies from Union County West End Fair Accident

LAURELTON – Tragedy during a tractor pull event at the Union County West End Fair. Milton state police say a 33-year-old Johnstown woman died after a tractor malfunctioned and a piece of the tractor hit her in the neck.

Troopers have not identified the woman. They also say the death has been ruled accidental and no foul play or criminal activity is being investigated.

Troopers say the incident occurred Friday night around 8:30 p.m.

Troopers say an exhaust wheel in the tractor became dislodged and ejected from its manifold. They say the exhaust wheel then ejected from the metal covering of the tractor, before a piece of the wheel struck the victim in the neck while she was seated as a spectator.

Troopers say extensive life-saving medical efforts were performed by off-duty medical personnel at the scene, as well as Fire and EMS personnel dispatched to the scene.

Troopers say the Union County Coroner’s Office is assisting in their investigation of the incident.
