COAL TOWNSHIP — A prison inmate has been arrested for reportedly slashing the throat of a prison guard with a sharp weapon at the State Correctional Facility in Coal Township. According to The Daily Item, 23-year-old William Amos Cramer is a convicted murderer already serving a life sentence.
Cramer reportedly attempted to kill corrections officer Francisco Charriez by slitting his throat with a razor-like weapon on August 31. Charriez suffered a cut across his throat, wounds to his right eyelid, eye and forehead, and several scratches after the attack.
Cramer is serving a life sentence for murdering his cellmate in Cambria County in 2012. He is now facing attempted homicide charges. He has been moved to SCI-Dallas in Luzerne County, where he awaits his preliminary arraignment before Shamokin District Judge John Gembic. (Codi Jade)
