SUNBURY – A major winter storm has already idled the US Capital and five states are bracing for blizzard like conditions. Spared from the worst, are areas in our Valley and north of this region. AccuWeather says the Susquehanna Valley will only see 2-4 inches of snow. The forecast says snow will arrive later this evening and continue through Saturday. PennDOT and Sunbury crews are pretreating roads and area municipalities are preparing for the winter storm.
The inclement weather has already caused several cancellations around The Valley. Tomorrow’s double header of Shikellamy boy’s basketball and wrestling on WKOK is cancelled. You can check out the rest of the cancellations on our Winternet page on wkok.com, and be sure to stay tuned to WKOK and wkok.com for continued updates.
The worst of the storm will be to our south. Forecasters are now saying Philadelphia could see as much as 2 feet of snow and is under a blizzard watch. The storm has also caused city officials to plan mass transit and airport shutdowns. Areas inland such as Lancaster and York could get as much as two and a half feet.
