LEWISBURG – After discovering they had erroneously appointed a board member, the Union County Housing Authority voted Wednesday to right the wrong. The authority voted to affirm all actions of the board since January 1, 2015 despite the presence of Gerald Torre who was appointed by the authority rather than by county commissioners.

Residents concerned by recent authority decisions turned out for the meeting and found the vote “unbelievable.”

Nancy Steckel, a Union County resident, said all votes taken with Torre present should be nullified, particularly the voted to convey the Penn Commons property to Union County Housing Associates, “By sitting there illegally at the board meeting where he seconded the motion to convey the property for Penn Commons to the developer, this would invalidate the conveyance of the property.”

Following an executive session, the authority voted to finalize the sale of the Penn Commons land. (Kory Kramer)
