DANVILLE – Starting today (Tuesday), the Hess Recreation Area access road will be closed for repaving. The main gate will close at 6am today and remain closed for several days.
Leaders of the Montour Area Recreation Commission say, while the main road and parking lot will be inaccessible, visitors can still park at the Meadow Lane and Beaver Place Trailhead areas. Trails and restroom facilities will remain open.
They say this marks the third phase of converting the road from a chip-and-tar surface to a more suitable surface. Paving is funded by a Montour County Conservation District grant.
