Here. For Good.

MOUNT CARMEL — THE DAILY ITEM REPORTS….A Mount Carmel mother with three children at home was recently granted custody of her grandchildren and turned to the Salvation Army for help.

Caroline is the mother of three children still at home, ages 17, 14 and 8. She was recently granted custody of her grandchildren, ages 9 and 5.

“I’m hoping the Salvation Army makes Christmas a lot easier,” she said. “The prices of everything are skyrocketing.”

Caroline has a partner who works in Maryland, so he is often not at home.

“It’s rough,” she said. “I’m pretty sure it’s rough for everybody, but it’s especially rough with young children.”

Caroline knows exactly what the children want this year.

“Anything that makes a mess,” she said. “It’s slime, it’s bracelets, anything with a million pieces or makes a mess.”

She said she is grateful for the Salvation Army.

“It’s really good that they’re there when you need them the most,” she said.
