Hearing delayed for man charged with assaulting baby

court-hammer-gavel1SHAMOKIN – A court hearing for a man charged with assaulting a baby in Shamokin has been delayed.  22-year-old Michael Mason was due in court before District Judge John Gembic on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.

The hearing was postponed and new date was not yet released.  Mason was moved to a prison in Centre County from the Montour County Prison, where he has been jailed since September 22nd.  Police say Mason assaulted the baby by dropping him in his crib and hitting his head on a wall.  The boy, identified as 1-year-old Bo Bacorn, was in critical condition, but remains in fair condition at Geisinger Medical Center.

The boy’s mother, Skie Campbell of Shamokin, was not at home at the time of the alleged assault and the investigation continues.  (Ali Stevens)
