Hearing Delayed for Former Sunbury Police Chief

SUNBURY – The Daily Item reports a preliminary hearing for the former Sunbury police chief has been delayed.  The hearing for 47-year-old Brad Hare was scheduled for today, but will now be held on November 14^th before District Judge Rachel Wiest-Benner.  Hare is charged with a felony count of theft by unlawful taking and three misdemeanor counts. The Daily Item reports Hare was released on October 11 on bail following an arraignment.  He is accused of taking $6,924 from the Americus Hose Company, where he served as Secretary. Hare was with the Sunbury Police for 22 years and served as police chief from November 2019 to October of 2023.
