MILTON – Acid spilled at a Milton Sewer Authority building on Route 405 Thursday. Nearly 200 gallons of sulfuric acid spilled at the Milton sewage treatment plant.

Greg Beuseigner, project representative for the wastewater to energy project tells WKOK what happened, “One of the connection hoses to one of the totes, I believe there was 200 gallons in this, came loose and it all spilled into the containment area. We had a small amount that ran on the back side of a wall down into a control room. The entire spill was contained within the building.”

The spill caused an evacuation of the control room. Northridge Group assisted volunteers from the Milton Fire Department and the William Cameron Engine Company with cleanup.

Crews were on the scene much of the afternoon. The sewage treatment plant remained online while cleanup was underway.
