SUNBURY – Victor Hare’s attempt to have a gun charge thrown out was denied in Northumberland County court Thursday. Hare’s attorney Kathleen Lincoln attempted to have the charge suppressed saying police did not have enough evidence for a search warrant.
Point Township Police Chief Josh VanKirk testified that he saw a holster on the table in Hare’s home while investigating the overdose death of 9-year-old Korbin Rager. A search warrant was executed and police discovered three weapons in a bedroom. Hare, who is a convicted felon, is not permitted to possess firearms. In October 2015, he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm.
Hare testified Thursday that he does not recall the day of the incident because he was in a state of shock. Northumberland County President Judge Charles Saylor ruled the gun charge would not be suppressed. Hare’s trial on charges related to Rager’s death is scheduled for May 19. (Alex Reichenbach)
