SUNBURY — With big projects coming to The Valley, PennDOT and the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to help local businesses ‘get in on the action.’ As the CSVT and the Sunbury Pipeline move forward, Bob Garrett, president of the chamber, said they are holding a workshop to help local businesses ready for the bidding process.
He said, “We’re going to the have the folks up from Cheyney University and do a workshop from 10:30-12:30 that morning and learn about how you can get your business ready to be part of the bidding process as the thruway project moves forward.”
Garrett says the major construction companies involved are always looking to work with local businesses for different jobs, “Primes (major contractors) always look for local companies to partner with. There are local people that have the skills necessary that can take those jobs.”
The workshop will also focus on women, minorities, and veterans businesses. It is on April 20 from 10:30-12:30 and is $15 to register. To register go to the chamber website at www.gsvcc.org. Garrett was on Friday’s On The Mark, you can hear more at www.wkok.com. (Lauren Koch)
