NORTHUMBERLAND — A Valley businessman is being remembered as a hard working family man. Founder of Kreamer Feed, George “Bill” Robinson, died Monday at the age of 91. His grandson, Jason Robinson, says it is hard to describe his grandfather in just a few words.
“He was a little bit of everything to everybody. He started off in New York as a farmer who helped put himself through college. He then entered the military for World War II. After that he started teaching farming through the GI program in Pennsylvania. Through that, he started his own feed business,” Robinson said. “Kreamer Feed is getting close to 70 years old, and we continue to grow. There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t meet someone who says ‘Oh yeah, I used to work for Kreamer Feed.’ He touched a lot of lives that way.”
Robinson is president of the now third generation company. He says along with the business, his grandfather loved family. “In the early ’50s he met my grandmother Doris, and they were married for 51 years until she passed away. They had seven children. They all have their own children, so the third generation is quite large. He loved to travel, and was literally around the world. His biggest thing, though, was family. He was a family man. My grandmother and he were very adamant that the family stay together.”
George “Bill” Robinson was also very active in the community. He was a member of several boards and local organizations, and sponsored agricultural scholarships. “He put a lot of time in making sure that our general community was developing,” Robinson said. He was also a huge Penn State fan. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. (Codi Jade)
