Girl hit by tree at amusement park in critical condition

update FEATELYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — An 11-year-old girl remains in critical condition after she and three family members were hit by a large tree branch that fell on their picnic table at a Pennsylvania amusement park campground.

Officials say a man and his three children were sitting at a picnic table under a canopy at Knoebels Amusement Resort’s campground near Elysburg Tuesday. As a storm blew in and winds picked up, a 40-foot section of tree broke off and fell on them.

Scott Kenney, of Lower Saucon Township, and his three kids were injured and taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

A Geisinger spokesman says all have been released except 11-year-old Caitlyn Kenney.

Last month, an 8-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive in Knoebels’ pool. A coroner said a medical condition may have led to his death.
