DANVILLE — It brings new meaning to the phrase, “The big G.” While Geisinger is in the midst of thrusting into the future, some relics of a hundred years ago popped up.
Geisinger’s Danville campus is undergoing an $880 million expansion and renovation, but during excavation work, construction crews unearthed pieces believed to be part of the original George F. Geisinger Memorial Hospital, which opened in 1915.
Geisinger leaders provided a construction update Tuesday and showcased the historical pillars and a fragment of a hospital sign including…a big G. They say the site will look dramatically different in the months ahead as a tower crane goes up and excavation work continues.
