ELYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Game wardens have charged a central Pennsylvania man with trying to poison a bear that damaged his property.
76-year-old Marvin W. Johnson did that by putting out trays of bread soaked in antifreeze or a similar substance. Johnson lives in Cleveland Township, Columbia County.
The man told the station last month that the bear had damaged his property. When Pennsylvania Game Commission officials checked Johnson’s property for damage, they found the poisoned bread near a barn.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for Johnson. His home phone was disconnected Thursday. No court date has been set on the four game violation citations he faces.
