MUNCY – Along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Lycoming County, state Fish and Boat Commission officials say they were forced to close the Muncy boat access last year. Now they say there is state funding to build a new launch at a new location.
State Representative Garth Everett (R-84th, Muncy) announced $250,000 in capital budget funding is set for release by the governor’s office to assist with building a new boat launch. The Fish and Boat Commission will then kick in the remaining money of the approximately $525,000 project.
The boat launch at Muncy was closed after sediment from the Muncy Creek continued to create a sandbar near the boat launch and that created a dangerous condition. It’s unclear when the project will be completed.
