SUNBURY— While Phase One of the Chestnut Street project is underway, the CDBG funding is already in place for Phase Two. Phase Two, known as the utility phase, will be from Third Street to Tenth Street and will include planned water and sewer projects.
Mayor David Persing says money is already coming in, “We understand there is some available money on projects that have already started and ours meets perfect for that. So Jamie is on top of things and tonight we had our first public hearing and what that means we’re now going to apply for more money. I believe another $750,000 towards phase two.”
Persing also says they are ahead of the game. “They’re talking about phase two in 2016, which is only next year and we only talked about a three, four maybe a five year plan so this would be great if we could get this $750,000 dollars.”
The entire Chestnut Street Project is estimated to cost $1.2 million. (Lauren Koch)
