LEWISBURG — Lewisburg will soon have a Children’s Museum at the Lewisburg High School building being vacated at the end of November.
Abby Gulden-Luthi talked about the new Children’s Museum location, “The Lewisburg Children’s Museum will occupy 12,000 feet within the old LHS building on 815 Market Street in Lewisburg. There is a closing ceremony scheduled for that building and an opening ceremony scheduled for the new building. We will hopefully be able to take occupancy on or before December 31. We will be on the first and second floor on the eastern-most side of the old high school.”
She says they hope to have programming at the museum in January. Gulden-Luthi explained some of the plans for the museum, “We will have nine rooms upstairs with over 15 exhibits. Those are pretty firm. We know that we will have a grocery store, a farm area, a nature exhibit and we will focus on the river since it’s such a huge part of the Susquehanna Valley. We will also have a space room, where we can talk about science and physics at mission control.”
To support the museum, there is a fundraiser planned for this Saturday at the Lewisburg High School, “It is family friendly, but child centered. It’s called Munchkins and Pumpkins. We are extending pumpkin season for everyone who loves pumpkins and isn’t ready to get rid of them just yet. Munchkins and Pumpkins will be an autumn themed fundraising event held this Saturday.”
Activities will include an obstacle course featuring pumpkins, pumpkin bowling, crafts, activities and more. To learn more about the event and other plans at the Lewisburg Children’s Museum, you can visit their website, www.lewisburgchildrensmuseum.org.
