Front/Duke Street intersection in Northumberland to be closed

NORTHUMBERLAND – A busy intersection in Northumberland will be closed for a period of time starting tomorrow as the $13.7 million Duke Street project continues. PennDOT says the contractor will begin full depth reconstruction at the Duke and Front Street intersection starting tomorrow. Front Street will be closed at the intersection, but access to businesses will be maintained.

Crews will also be installing drainage improvements and ADA curb ramps. This phase of the project is expected to take about two weeks. The detour route will remain the same. All work will be done during daylight hours.

Next week, the contractor will begin full depth reconstruction, drainage upgrades and ADA curb ramps on the opposite side of the street from Hanover Street to Prince Street. Hanover Street, North Avenue and Prince Street will be closed on the north side of Front Street.
