Four Alarm Fire Injures Volunteer Firefighters in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN – A house fire broke out on Valley Street in Lewistown around 11am Monday. The Lewistown Fire Department units happened to be already out on a Carbon Monoxide investigation in the borough.

They say the fire spread rapidly from 224 Valley Street to neighboring homes at 222 and 226. Firefighters faced heavy fire conditions during the first hour, and several volunteers were injured, with two being treated for burns at Lewistown Hospital.

The fire escalated to a 4-alarm level, requiring mutual aid from multiple departments. Crews remained on scene for nearly 4 hours. The community’s support, providing food and drinks to the responders, was deeply appreciated.
