LEWISBURG – One of the most diligent workers when it came to economic development in The Valley has died. Jim King died last weekend, he was the former head of Northumberland County’s Economic Development Department and volunteered for years for the Central Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce.
Central PA Chamber President and CEO Tea Jay Aikey told us, King was an incredible man, his knowledge was immeasurable and he zeal for volunteering and helping the chamber was unmatched, “He quickly became a very important part of the team and was there daily to provide greetings to visitors and support in my ways to the team.”
She said, “Jim was a mentor to me of whom I’ve missed tremendously since he left his front desk post. He had an amazing knack for giving tough love and constructive feedback, you always knew no matter how hard it was to hear you needed it and he was coming from a place of genuine love. He had a great sense of humor and a heart like no other.”
Jim King was a US Army Veteran, served for 22-years and that included two tours in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife and four grown children. Funeral services are set for next week, and he’ll be buried with full military honors at Fort Indiantown Gap. Jim King was 84 years old.
