Former Visitors Bureau Staffer Faces Theft and Morals Offenses

MONTANDON – A former staffer at the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau has been charged with morals offenses and the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

43-year-old Timothy Dowhower of Mifflinburg is accused of stealing approximately $870,000 from the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau over six years. Arraigned on charges of theft, criminal use of communication facilities, and unauthorized use of a credit card, Dowhower was released on $870,000 unsecured bail.

Dowhower allegedly funneled $868,000 to Logical Destination, a company he established, which performed no work for the bureau, according to former executive director Andrew Miller. He is also accused of charging $2,860 to the bureau’s credit card for a sexually explicit website subscription.

Investigators discovered that Logical Destination’s address was Dowhower’s home, with checks sent to a UPS store box. His estranged wife and son confirmed the business’s existence.
