SHAMOKIN — Five people from Northumberland County have been charged in separate drug incidents. According to The News Item, those charged include 30-year-old Amy Carl of Coal Township, 46-year-old Donna McCarthy of Coal Township, 38-year-old Andrew Lego of Shamokin, 33-year-old Vanessa Thorpe of Shamokin, and 22-year-old Joshua Knapik of Coal Township.
Carl is being charged with possession and delivery of Oxycodone pills and Alprazolam tablets. McCarthy is being charged with possession and delivery of cocaine. Lego is being charged with delivering Oxycodone. Thorpe is charged with possession and deliverer of Clonazepam pills. Knapik is being charged with possessing and delivering Oxycodone tablets.
A confidential informant was reportedly used by police in each of the drug transactions. All defendants were arraigned Thursday morning by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, who released them each on $10,000 bond with bail supervision. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Tuesday. (Codi Jade)
