UPDATE: Double home damaged from two-alarm fire in Sunbury

 

SUNBURY – Several residents of a double home are staying elsewhere after a two-alarm fire at a in Sunbury Wednesday evening. Sunbury Fire Chief Paul Brown says the fire occurred just after 7:30 p.m. at 115 and 117 North Sixth Street.

 

Brown says flames could been seen from the roof upon firefighters arrival and volunteers made a quick stop on the blaze.

 

No one was home at the time, and volunteers were able to save a cat. While crews were working to put out the fire. Brown says the first floor of the building suffered smoke and water damage. There were no injuries among his volunteers.

 

The American Red Cross was also called to the scene to assist displaced residents. Fire chief Brown also says a state fire marshal will investigate the scene Thursday morning.

 

Selinsgrove, Northumberland, Upper Augusta, Shamokin Dam, and Middleburg fire companies responded.
