LEWIS TOWNSHIP – A home was destroyed by fire in Lewis Township, Northumberland County early this morning. The fire started at 12:15 a.m. at 1125 Old State Road.
When volunteer firefighters arrived, heavy flames and smoke were visible. Fire companies from Warrior Run, Milton,White Deer, Washingtonville and a crew from Lycoming County responded. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours. The home is owned by Samuel Byler of Turbotville and the Dawn Hockenbrock family lives there. They were all able to get out safely. The two story home was heavily damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation. (Ali Stevens)
