ELYSBURG – A home was damaged by fire Monday evening in Elysburg. Firefighters were called to the 118 Pocahontas Lane around 7 p.m. for a kitchen fire. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes and heavy damage was reported to the kitchen, with smoke and water damage in other parts of the home.
The residents, Anthony and Christine Luongo and their two children, were not at home at the time of the fire. The home is owned by Jerry Splitt and is insured. No injuries were reported. Firefighters from Stonington, Coal Township and Ralpho Township assisted Elysburg volunteer firefighters at the scene. (Ali Stevens)
