COAL TOWNSHIP – A double home was heavily damaged by fire in Coal Township Sunday evening. The fire started around 9 p.m. at 850 W. Spruce Street. Multiple volunteer fire crews were called in for the two-alarm blaze.
The News Item reports the Manley family was able to escape safely along with a woman who lived in the other half of the double at 852 Spruce Street. Firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. The fire took about 45 minutes to bring under control and crews were on the scene for several hours. No injuries were reported.
