Feasibility study results on shared 911 services

snyder County Commissioner Malcolm Derk supporting John KasichSUNBURY – Should Snyder and Union Counties merge their 911 services?  The counties paid $55,000 to have a feasibility study done to determine if merging makes sense and the results have started to come in.

Snyder County Commissioner Malcolm Derk talked about what the next step is in finding an outcome, “On Friday morning, there’s going to be a legislative breakfast where the Commissioners will be briefing the community on some projects. But also, Union and Snyder County have been engaged in a study of the 911 infrastructure that we have in place.”

Derk explained what results the feasibility study will show, “To see what assets we have, how we might be able to collaborate in a more effective and efficient way. We expect to see the results of that study that we’ve hired a consultant to look at all our opportunities that might be out there.”

The legislative breakfast will take place at Country Cupboard in Lewisburg on Friday to discuss the results and start to determine a decision. The final consultant’s report of the feasibility study is estimated to be available in early July. (Alex Reichenbach)
