MOUNT CARMEL – A kitchen fire early this morning displaced a family of nine at a home in Mount Carmel. Emergency dispatchers tell us the fire was at 400 East Avenue and started around 12:27 a.m.
Mount Carmel, Atlas and Shamokin volunteer fire companies were summoned to the scene. The fire was put out in about 20 minutes, but there was smoke and water damage reported in the home. There were no injuries and the Red Cross is assisting the family displaced by the fire. (Ali Stevens)
