LEWISBURG – Excitement always surrounds the commencement ceremony at Bucknell University in the spring, but now there is something extra for graduates and their families to look forward to. It was recently announced that CBS Corporation President, chairman and CEO Les Moonves will be the commencement speaker.
Connor McLaughlin is the president of Bucknell University’s Class of 2016, “Commencement itself is always packed. There are always a lot of people. It actually happens on Bucknell’s Academic Quad. There’s literally thousands of people that are all packed up. Really, no matter who the speaker has been, it’s always amazingly attended ceremony. That being said, the fact that we have someone as high profile as Mr. Moonves coming, it may increase attendance even more.”
Moonves graduated from Bucknell in 1971. He majored in Spanish at Bucknell and pursued a love of theater performing in several plays at the University. This will be the second time he has addressed graduates at his alma mater; the last time being for the Class of 1996. Moonves and his wife, news personality Julie Chen, live in Beverly Hills, California.
