Evidence thrown out in attempted murder case

SUNBURY – Some of the evidence against a Sunbury man charged with attempted murder will not be heard in court. Robert Snyder, Jr. is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and other charges stemming from an argument last year in which he allegedly tried to shoot his wife.

On Monday, Northumberland County Judge Paige Rosini ordered that a video recording of Snyder’s interrogation and statements made by Snyder are inadmissible as evidence. Rosini said in her order that Snyder was advised of his Miranda rights and that state troopers continued to question him after he made multiple requests to call his attorney.

Rosini ruled that all physical evidence in the case is still admissible in court. Snyder was released on $1 bail in August after Northumberland County failed to bring him to trial in the required 180 days. Northumberland County District Attorney Tony Matulewicz tells WKOK his office is filing a notice of appeal of Judge Rosini’s order.
