Police: Drugged driver caused Rt. 15 wreck

accident

LEWISBURG — Police say a truck driver was on drugs when he struck a dump-truck head-on on Route 15 in Lewisburg.  Police say 64-year-old Michael Nibert of Salisbury, North Carolina, has been charged with DUI, reckless driving and several other counts for the accident May 1 on Route 15 at Beagle Club Road.

Police say Nibert was under the influence of multiple prescription pain killers and other drugs, when he lost control of his rig and struck a dump-truck driven by Dawayne Betzer of Selinsgrove.  Betzer then struck another vehicle, driven by Brandy Gessner of Mifflinburg.  They were both taken to local hospitals with injuries.  Nibert was flown to Geisinger Medical Center, where he was treated and released.  (Ali Stevens)
