MOUNT CARMEL— Word is out on what charges Mt. Carmel Dr. Raymond Kraynak is facing. The Daily-Item reports that the Drug Enforcement Administration is charging Dr. Kraynak with 19 drug related violations. Five of those stem from incidents where patients died after taken medication he prescribed.
Dr. Kraynak is accused for prescribing 2.79 million units of schedule two substances to nearly 3000 patients between January of 2016 and July of 2017. An assistant U.S. attorney says Kraynak’s two offices in Shamokin and Mount Carmel prescribed more controlled substances than any other doctor in the state.
A bail hearing is set for tomorrow, for now he is being detained by the DEA. Kraynak was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday and arrest by the DEA this morning in Mount Carmel.
