LEWISBURG — Downtown Lewisburg may be losing two businesses before the summer is over. The CVS store on Market Street will close at the end of the month and the liquor store is also slated to move to the Penn Commons location in East Buffalo Township.
Linda Sterling, executive director of the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership says there’s still hope to keep the liquor store downtown, “The PLCB reiterated, ‘no it’s not too late.’ Actually, the board has been hearing information about this and they could reconsider at the next meeting and suggested we do a letter writing campaign.”
More than 50 letters have already been generated and will be sent to the PLCB prior to their meeting at the end of the month.
Sterling says they are fighting to keep the liquor store, but the loss of two stores would not be impossible to overcome, “Downtown has weathered a whole lot of storms. When we started in 1999 there were thirteen vacancies down here. Two is not going to put us under.”
