DELTA, Pa. (AP) – Residents near a central Pennsylvania nuclear power plant shouldn’t worry if they hear sirens this week.
Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station on the Susquehanna River is testing its sirens Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Pennlive.com says the three-minute blast is a semi-annual test by the plant’s owner, Exelon Generation.
The test won’t include activating the Emergency Broadcast System, which would happen in a real emergency.
Peach Bottom’s system includes 97 sirens in a 10-mile radius around the two-unit nuclear plant. It is located about 50 miles south of Harrisburg, near the Maryland border.
