Donate school supplies to Valley students

stuff the busNORTHUMBERLAND — A Valley credit union is helping students and teachers get ready for school this fall. The Northumberland County Schools Federal Credit Union is once again hosting a Stuff the Bus campaign.

Cathy Koser, Lending Relations Representative with credit union says the program helps kids get what they need, “Schools don’t have the monies there to buy all of the things that the kids need, so the notebooks, the pens, the backpacks, all those kinds of things. We are collecting those items to help both in the community, for the school districts, and the children.”

Koser says cardboard school buses are located at businesses around the area, “Cole’s Hardware, so at the Milton, Lewisburg, Northumberland, Sunbury and Mt. Caramel locations, the Central Pennsylvania Chambers of Commerce, Susquehanna Fire equipment, Watsontown Nursing and Rehab, FNB, the Watsontown branch, Sunbury Motor, Pennsylvania Careerlink, and Remax, west branch.”

You can donate school supplies or make a monetary donation. After donating, you’ll be entered to win a gift card. She explained how they distribute the donations to the schools, “We’ll bring them in and count them, so to speak. Then, we’ll put them in different locations for each district. The information we get with us, so the supplies and monetaries get split between all three districts; Milton, Warrior Run and Shik.”

The Stuff the Bus campaign is underway until August 14. (Alyson Holdren)
