SUNBURY – Victor Hare was back in court Monday for a hearing related to the overdose death of a young boy in his care. Hare is charged with multiple felonies including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault of a child in the death of 9-year-old Korbin Rager last October.
The district attorney’s office said they will call an expert to testify about DNA found on a straw. It is said to contain DNA from Hare and Rager as well as traces of oxycontin, the drug that caused Rager’s death.
Prosecutors expressed concern that the process is dragging on after Hare’s attorney asked the court’s permission to hire both a pathologist and forensics expert to examine evidence. Hare is scheduled for trial in January. He pleaded guilty earlier this month to a felony weapons charge. (Jennifer Wakeman)
