PennDOT gives GSVCC detour updates for Duke Street Project

NORTHUMBERLAND – Traffic flow on King and Queen Streets in Northumberland will soon be less congested. PennDOT announced during Friday’s Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee Meeting, the Duke Street/Rt. 147 detours using King and Queen Streets, will be lifted sometime in November.

The truck detour however, will continue to remain in effect until the $13 million project is finished in 2020. Ted Deptula, PennDOT Assistant Construction Engineer, says trucks have done a better job observing the detour, “There appears to be fewer trucks now than at the beginning of the project. And that truck detour will remain in place over the wintertime due to utility work and other minor work by the contractor throughout the winter.” (Matt Catrillo)
