MIDDLEBURG – A Snyder County deputy sheriff wants to be the next sheriff in Snyder County. John Zechman has announced his intention to seek election to a four year term for Snyder County Sheriff. Zechman is a graduate of West Snyder High School and lives in Spring Township with his wife and two sons.
He has been employed by the Snyder County Sheriff’s Office since 2010 and supervises warrant operations. He was also employed by the security department at Evangelical Community Hosptial from 2012 to 2014. Zechman graduated from the Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriff Academy at Penn State and has been active in the FFA and Snyder County 4H programs.
Current Sheriff Joseph Reigle is retiring. Another candidate and sheriff’s deputy, Kate Reid, is also running for sheriff. (Ali Stevens)
