KREAMER – A soybean oil spill caused a big mess in Kreamer today. Dan Spadoni of the Department of Environmental Protection says they were notified of the spill at 9:45a.m at Kreamer Feeds on Route 522. A member of the DEP Emergency Response Team and a representative of the Clean Water Program were dispatched to the scene. Northridge Group, a private environmental clean up company was called to assist in containing the spill.

Most of the 2,100 gallons of soybean oil pooled in the parking lot, but Spadoni says some did make it into a storm drain and went to the Kreamer Municipal Authority’s sewage treatment plant. The plant is isolating that oil into tanks and it will be removed by Northridge Group.

According to Spadoni, no soil, groundwater or surface water was impacted by the spill. (Jennifer Wakeman)
