Danville Weis now selling beer

weisDANVILLE –  As the state changes the way alcohol can be sold, at least one grocery store chain is changing too. You can now buy beer at the Danville Weis Markets.  WKOK spoke with Weis communication specialist Jennifer Sands.  She says the beer cafés in neighboring stores have proven effective.

“We’re opening beer cafés in stores where it makes sense for us.  This is the fifth one in the area that we have.  We are getting great feedback from customers.  Basically it is just all about offering them more convenience.  They can go in the store, pick up a six-pack.  We have more than 650 varieties of beer they can choose from.”

Sands says customers seem to love the convenience of grabbing their beer with their groceries, “Customers seem to be loving it.  They can come in, pick up a six-pack.  We also have this great mix-a-six program where they can just mix the six-pack that they want.  They just pick different bottles and create their own six pack.”

The beer café opened Wednesday in the Danville store.   It joins the already existing cafes in Lewisburg, Bloomsburg, Selinsgrove and Sunbury.  (Codi Jade)
