Danville Teen Charged In Shamokin Township Shooting

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP —State Police say a Danville teen is charged with attempted homicide after a  afternoon shooting in Northumberland County. Troopers from Stonington say they were called to 35 Short Road in Shamokin Township around 1:30pm.

Troopers say 18-year-old Ryan Costa got into a verbal altercation with 46-year-old Kyle Kent, also of Danville. Troopers say Costa picked up a shotgun that was nearby and shot Kent in the abdomen and hand.  Police say Kent retreated into the residence and was followed by Costa, who allegedly assaulted him.

Costa fled the home, but was found, interviewed, and charged attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment. He’s jailed. Kent was taken to Geisinger and is expected to recover from his injuries.
