NEW COLUMBIA – A hog procurement and production company is expanding to Union County, which the state says will create 51 new, good-paying jobs. Governor Tom Wolf announced Thursday Country View Family Farms, LLC selected Pennsylvania over other states for its more than $47.3 million feed mill expansion project. It’s set to be installed within the next three years.
The governor says a new feed mill on a 100-plus acre rail-served site will be built at 2142 Old Route 15 in New Columbia.
Country View Farms received a funding proposal from the DCED for a $255,000 Pennsylvania First grant and other state programs. The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team (GAT), and the Department of Agriculture staff. The governor says Regional economic development organizations DRIVE and Focus Central PA were also involved in the project, working with local authorities and helping with site selection.
Country View Farms is based in Middletown and manages over 100 family farms raising hogs under contract. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Clemens Family Corporation in Hatfield, Montgomery County.
