Council member: Police should be reprimanded

brad hare FEATSUNBURY – All eyes are on the Sunbury police department in the wake of an investigative report released Tuesday. City Council member Beth Kremer says reprimands could be made against officers who conducted the investigation into allegations against Officer Scott Hause.

She said, “The people who investigated it and the chief of police who initiated the internal investigation. They’re the ones who did wrong. The City of Sunbury did nothing wrong. The mayor did nothing wrong and council did nothing wrong.”  Kremer says the investigation should never have been handled internally.

Mayor David Persing told WKOK that while many of Ballard Spahr’s recommendations focused on the actions of then-police chief Brad Hare, it is unlikely there will be any action taken since Hare is no longer chief. Persing is currently searching for a new part-time administrative police chief and said there will be restructuring in the department when a new chief is hired.
