MOUNT CARMEL — We now know what caused the death of a Mount Carmel man who was found dead Wednesday in Mount Carmel Township, Northumberland County. County Coroner James Kelley says 33-year-old Sean Maschal died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. Kelley has ruled the incident a homicide. Maschal was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner James Gotlob at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy was performed Thursday morning in Allentown. The Coroner’s office is not releasing any other information at this time. Maschal’s body was found Wednesday in the woods along Route 901 just east of Locust Gap. (Matt Catrillo)
